American Gothic I
Another illustration from the archive, American Gothic was a homage to the work of Edward Hopper and Grant Wood.
Hopper’s uneasy light had been thrilling the Tate Modern during the summer of 2004, and following the exhibition I was introduced to the equally unsettling imagery of Wood.
