An Occurrence on Godiva Road

An Occurrence on Godiva Road, limited edition silkscreen print, and my submission for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2010
I’ve attempted to submit a print to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for over 10 years now, but each and every March I’ve experienced the same regretful pang as I realise I’ve missed the deadline. As I’m sure you’ve experienced, something always seems to get in the way.

The framed print, a great job by The Frame Factory, Islington
The Royal Academy’s annual summer show has long been an institution for the UK’s artistic community, and has been run every year without exception from 1790 usually attracting over 10,000 submissions every single March.
Thankfully, I can finally say that thanks to the corralling efforts of my girlfriend I’ve managed to turn the tide on this sorry situation and on Friday 26th March I found myself handing over a freshly framed 3 colour silkscreen print to the art handlers of the Royal Academy’s East Wing.

Peek-a-boo! A detail from An Occurrence on Godiva Road

This print is just one from an edition of 25
Whether or not the Academy decide to accept the work is all together a different matter, but regardless of what happens I’m now the proud owner of 25 lovely silkscreen prints ready and waiting to go. My thanks go out to the good people at Bob Eight Pop who took the time to print it, and The Frame Factory for framing it – they’ve both done an excellent job.
Jamie.
I LOVE IT!
When and where will you be selling these? Je voudrais!

Great. When can I get my hands on this print?
Hi Ross,
I’m waiting for the RA’s verdict on that one. Will keep you posted!
All the best,
Jamie
Hi Jamie,
Thanks for that. If you can send me an email if/when it becomes avaliable.
Ross
Did it get into the show?
Hi Ross,
Sadly no, I got the rejection letter the other week! Haha, maybe next year? Though I have heard horror stories of people trying for 25 years…
It does mean though that I have an edition of 30 or so screenprints up for grabs – I’ll put it on the shop soon.
Thanks for getting in touch,
Jamie
That is sad news, better luck next year.
I watched the culture show program just to see if I could spot it, but alas it would of been in vein. It does seem largely down to a certain theme or style.
Ross.
Hi there,
Thanks for the support! Yes, next year, next year… :)
All the best,
Jamie
